Another round up of should-have-been blog posts.
We had our school auction a month ago. The theme was "Havana Nights," so I finally had a reason to wear that Panama hat that I impulse bought in Puerto Rico on a cruise more that a decade ago. Good times, although I kinda sorta goaded my tipsy friend into way overbidding on a few items.
My parents and Brent's mom were all in town the same weekend in hopes of seeing the unexpected early peak of the cherry blossoms, but then another unexpected change in weather went and ruined most of them.
We really have had weird weather, from gorgeous days in February when I could run outside with my new kicks and Taylor Swift , to more appropriate wintry days where Simon could curl up in front of a cozy fire.
We are nearing the end of our days with a functional kitchen, but as always I have been baking a bit. Homemade muffins, especially mini chocolate chip ones, help me to secure a place in my son's heart.
That Barbie cake was for our friend Meredith's 50th birthday. She'll always be the one closest in age to me, but will also never forget to point out that I am a full month older. I made a similar cake for her 40th birthday party, with the Barbie theme stemming from a nickname she acquired at work. Ten years later, I think I can now retire the special pan required to make it.
And well, since we're back to the subject of age, someone recently posted an elementary school class photo on Facebook, so I might as well share this little gem - me in 4th grade. That shirt!
