Next stop: Acadia National Park! We decided to start ourselves off with an overview and drove the 27 mile long Park Loop Road that connects the lakes, mountains, and seashore. There are many spots to pull over and park for a minute an some seriously breathtaking overlooks.
We stopped for a bit at Sand Beach, but more on that later!
One popular spot is Thunder Hole, a naturally carved rocky inlet where the right size wave can create a thunderous roar by forcing air and water out of a low cavern at the end. We didn't get to see the elusive 40 foot spouts, but we got the gist and it was pretty cool.
Then on past Otter Cliffs, Jordan Pond, and Eagle Lake, and up to the summit of Cadillac Mountain.
It is the highest point on the Atlantic Coast and has incredible 360 degree views. Just amazing feeling like you're on top of the world!
