My work schedule has not been so kind in allowing me the flexibility to chaperone many of the 2nd grade field trips, but I was finally able to go on one last week, to the Montgomery County Recycling Center.

Of course they recycle books, but what are the odds of them displaying a picture of Nelson's Textbook of Pediatrics when a pediatrician is chaperoning?!  After a little talk from an employee about the importance of recycling and what the process is like for different materials, the kids got to tour the plant.

Absolutely fascinating, and God bless the people that work there!  It is amazing how much stuff comes in there in just one day, but thankfully almost every bit of it is reused.

You know the drill, people: REDUCE - REUSE - RECYCLE!!!
