Alliteration

al·lit·er·a·tion
əˌlitəˈrāSHən
noun, the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.

Seems like a good place to start when teaching 7 and 8 year olds how to write poetry.

Two original poems by JT shared at open house last week, complete with illustrations:

"Animals Like Me"
Joseph rides a jaguar while eating juicy jellybeans and drinking juice
while Lia rides a lion and licks a lollipop

"Slice"
Stephen slices sausages for the samurai
while Julia jogs on Jello
