My Left Foot

Well, more accurately, it's his left foot.  Joseph's, that is.  What is wrong with it, that's a mystery.  He most certainly didn't have an accident or injury of any kind.  He hasn't been acting sick in any way, shape or form. He just started complaining that it hurt when we were walking around shopping 2 days ago, but it looked perfectly fine.  We humored him with Motrin and soaks and ice even though it appeared completely normal, thinking maybe he stepped on a Lego and bruised it.  Then he woke up yesterday with it all red, swollen and tender.  When he absolutely refused to bear weight on it, we decided to stop being doctor dads and took him in to the ER for an evaluation, worried that it was turning into a cellulitis.

His XRAY was normal and he was free to go with a special shoe.  They thought maybe he had just gotten a bug bite (ummmm, because that happens so often in the middle of December when you spend the whole day inside???) but gave a prescription for antibiotics just in case.

Even with the shoe he wouldn't walk much yesterday.  As of this morning it was even a little more red and swollen, so we started the antibiotics and will see if that makes a difference by tomorrow.
