Pride 2014

We spent half the day on Saturday going back and forth to Dupont Circle to meet up with 2 different friends that were visiting DC for the weekend, which was perfect since we wanted catch the annual Pride parade later in the afternoon.  I'm not sure it's how most people kill time between a bar mitzvah ceremony and reception, but having grown up in San Francisco, it wasn't a crazy thing for our friend Shami to do.

For the first time EVER in our country, the Department of Defense participated in a Pride parade.  The Armed Forces Color Guard led the parade (presented by Marriott!) and were greeted by cheers and thanks.  They were followed, of course, by Dykes on Bikes, go-go boys with super soakers, and rainbow after rainbow after rainbow.  And Kaiser Permanente!

Joseph was front and center as usual, waving and hoping for anyone and everyone to throw him beads and candy.  He must have really looked charming, since the people on both sides would offer him everything they caught too.

Most groups marching only had one color bead to throw, and in the end we wound up with our very own rainbow.  Happy Pride!

Great pictures! Looks like a really nice parade this year. Make me sorry that my husband and I didn't get to go. Thanks for sharing the pictures and the adventures. Looks like you all had a great time! Rob
