Lady Liberty

There was only one thing I insisted on doing this time around in NY: taking Joe Joe to see the Statue of Liberty.  I'm way far behind in posting pics from our trip, so I won't bother trying to give you lots of historical info about one of the most obvious symbols associated with freedom and our good old US of A.

The ferry ride in New York Harbor over to Liberty Island was quick and fun, and the views of Manhattan are amazing.  The great news is is that my bionic ankle didn't set off the metal detectors going through the security checkpoints!

She's really just breathtaking to see in person.

A family portrait and a selfie, now required at every major landmark ;)

With better planning we would have bought tickets well in advance to make the hike up to the crown, but walking the grounds and visiting the gift shop were perfectly adequate for a 6 year old.

And the next most obvious stop: Ellis Island
