In a NY State of Mind

Joseph loves New York City.  I don't know why, but it is one of the trips we've been on that he talks about the most, and he was so excited to return this year during our Thanksgiving break.  It's such a quick train ride from Trenton, which is close to my parents' house in Jersey, right into Penn Station.

Joseph was a little freaked by how loud the subway was last time, so he asked to take a cab.  Cute picture, until you notice the sign for a strip club on top of it.  This time we stayed in Union Square, at the ultra hip W hotel.

We immediately set off the explore the city, and unknowing came right upon Parsons.  Make it work! (That only makes sense if you watch Project Runway....)

We checked out Times Square, of course, with a trip to the mega Toys 'R Us on Black Friday.  Only in New York would you be able to pose with Elmo and Spiderman at the same time, and get photobombed by the Grinch.

We were thrilled to see that so many of the holiday decorations were already up, and the tree in Rockefeller Center was ready to go - but the lighting ceremony wouldn't happen until after we left.

I didn't mean to cut off Joseph's head in that last picture, but "selfies" are supposed to be silly, aren't they?

Our room at the W had an amazing view and we got to see the sun set behind the city skyline and the new building that's been under construction at the World Trade Center Complex. One night we had an amazing meal at Todd English's restaurant in the lobby, Olive's, and had a pretty sweet table where we could watch all the action in the kitchen.

We were just a few blocks walk to the chic Flatiron District with its iconic building of the same name (and a view of the Empire State Building in the other direction!).  I could have spent all day in Eataly, a high end Italian food market and mall, but we had bigger plans!
