A Capitol Fourth

What a long, busy, fun-filled holiday we had today!  It started off with a local tradition, the Palisades parade.  We met up with many good friends and braved the sweltering heat to celebrate the 4th.

The Boy Scouts march in the beginning and hand out paper bags for all the kids to collect candy and goodies that are thrown throughout the parade.  A custom we're very familiar with at Mardi Gras!

A rare photo with me in it!

Later on we hit a block party up our street and got to spend more time with more good friends and neighbors.  Unfortunately we had to zip out early to make it downtown to our friend David's annual party.  He's the General Manager of a hotel downtown and throws a phenomenal shindig in the Presidential suite.  Afterwards we get an awesome view of the fireworks from the rooftop!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday too!
