Gone Fishin'

Brent's aunt & uncle, Susie & Gary, were so ridiculously generous in letting us stay at their gorgeous house right on Galveston Bay during our recent visit to Houston. The views were breathtaking and the private dock was calling our names the second we got there.

Leyton unfortunately had to stay in Houston to not miss school, but Joseph and his cousin Ashton got their own private lessons in fishing and crabbing from Brent and their Mimi & Poppy.

Not too much was biting during the day, just a few small catch and release fish and 1 lone crab who fascinated the boys.

No biggie. The pier was also just a lovely place to sit and ponder for a while.

Everyone said the night fishing was always better, so once the sun had set and the kids were asleep we headed out for more.

They were right! Uncle Glenn caught the only flounder, Brent had the catch of the day (a large redfish), and I even took a break from photography to reel a few in.

Mimi got stuck with the clean up in the morning, but she had an eager audience. Love that she was gutting fish with some bling on!

Freaky that this fish had just that one sharp tooth in the center. It was just begging to be touched by curious little fingers.
