Pinata non grata

Back to birthday party pics! Here's the pinata I mentioned. I couldn't justify watching kids beat up on a parrot or a pirate figure, so we went with a treasure chest, appropriately filled with candy bracelets and necklaces, ring pops, and bubble gum coins (decided against the chocolate coins because I'd heard nightmares of it all melting in the sun).

Joseph took a few whacks at it, but he was more interested in helping me hold the string and watching everyone else.

It was really cute seeing the littler ones timidly tap the pinata while the older kids tried to beat the heck out of it.

In the end it was just dragging on too long with most of the kids being so gentle, so I had to step up to the plate and hit it out of the park.

When the kids realized what was in there, and they came running and scrambled for treasure!

Joseph got his hands on one ring pop and was set for a good long time. But Norah cleaned up!
