Yesterday I was planning on taking Joseph to the Cameron Run water park in Alexandria, which we both enjoyed so often last summer. We haven't been yet this year because our Tuesday playdates out that way with Jack have been on hiatus forever. I was debating whether it would really be worth the effort when Brent suggested we try the water park in Reston instead. I've always meant to check it out but just kept forgetting about it. But let me tell you, I'll never forget it now. Joseph and I had the greatest time!
While Cameron Run may draw the older crowd with their giant wave pool and towering water slides, The Water Mine is definitely geared toward the toddler set. The entire center pool is less than 4 feet deep and has tons of different floats, games, and slides for varying ages. Best of all, it has a "lazy river" around the perimeter where you can float along on a tube and stay cool.
They do still have a gated toddler pool where we set up camp,
and they have free life vests in varying sizes to use at your discretion, which we grabbed before heading onto the river.
We could not have asked for a more perfect day! The heat wave finally broke, and the clouds couldn't have been prettier.
Unlike Cameron Run, they let you bring in all the food and drink you want. Wish we had known that in advance, but the hot dogs and fries were delish.
Behind Joseph is a huge lake, and admission includes a separate boat tour on the lake, as well as carousel rides! Too much to do in one day, so we'll be going back very soon!
