We had a ton of leftovers after our Thanksgiving dinner. Even though there were only 5 of us (plus Joseph), I made enough food for 25. Anyone surprised? In my defense, how do you make 1/2 a cheesecake? So we just had Benjamin and his parents over last night, and did the whole thing all over again!

Gobble Gobble

This year's bird was sooo good! For whatever reason we thought we'd try out the brining phenomenon, and it was totally worth it. Mmm, mmm, moist. Our guests of honor were Mimi and Poppy, who flew in from Louisiana. While I was working on dinner, Mimi kept Joe Joe busy with a little craft project.

Poppy was a pro with the carving knife, and the whole meal looked as good as it tasted.

The one thing we're most thankful for? Duh! (But I am also thankful he didn't trash my Grammy's china.)

I do believe there were firemen and pirates alongside the pilgrims at that 1st Thanksgiving table. Hope you had a wonderful holiday and gobbled to your heart's content!

Poor little Will was already 6 weeks old before I was able to finish his quilt - or "kWILLt," as I should have named it, but the creative juices just weren't flowing at the time I made the label. The top was actually done before he was born, but I just couldn't find the time to finish up the rest.

The fabric on the back was the inspiration. Teddy bears and toile - couldn't pass it up. The rest I figured out along the way.

Jack and Joseph were really fighting over it when they saw it! But they did play nice and pretend to be asleep, and then let Will have a turn with his own present.

Joseph just loves "baby brudder" (as he calls him) to pieces. It's so sweet to see!

Hello, Dolly

I came across a set of High School Musical 3 dolls in the basement the other day.

Don't ask why, just blame Andra.

And then I just thought, "Why not?" So I gave them to Joseph to play with. Troy Bolton was an instant favorite. Good taste, son! They have the same blue eyes.

But he's still all boy, so then he went and dumped them in the dump truck.

Warm and Cozy

This was how our living room fireplace looked before Joseph:

This is how it's looked since Joseph:

Mostly we were just trying to block him from playing in there (though there are toys everywhere!). We decided to cover up the brick we never liked in the 1st place and then install a door we could close instead of barricading the gaping hole.

Umm, still a little too close for comfort:

Just right, all warm and cozy on a chilly night!

Play hard in a soft room

The rec centers by Jack's house have "soft play rooms." Brilliant idea! Basically it's a padded cell where your kids can run wild and you don't have to worry about them killing themselves or losing a tooth. Why are there none by our house?!

They're in there, I swear! (The germ factor is beyond gross, if you let it get to you...)

Meanwhile, sweet baby Will just chilled.

A for Effort

For the record, there are a multitude of things that Brent excels at.
This just isn't one of them.

Also for the record, I put the diaper on in the beginning, or we would have been here all night.
I'll take an A for effort too, since it took me 2 days and countless hours trying to figure out how to chop this video up into enough small pieces that Blogger would let me upload it. It only allows a maximum of 100MB videos. Who knew? Hope it was worth the effort!

Umbrella, ella, ella

Sorry, we're all still big fans of the Rhianna song.

Size doesn't matter

After playing outside for a while on this lovely day today, Jack and Joe took off their shoes when they came in for lunch. They're wearing the same sneakers, but Jack just grew into a 7.5 while Joseph has been in a 10 for a while now.

While Jack is smaller, he's quite a bit faster, as seen here. Not terribly exciting footage, but I don't think Grammy and Grandpa have ever seen Joseph playing on the swing set they gave him for his birthday.

Leave it to Joseph

One of Joseph's favorite new sayings: "Joe Joe help you." In fact, sometimes the only way to actually get anything done is to ask him 1st if he wants to help you. Then when he loses interest 2 seconds later, you can finish the task at hand.

Geaux Tigers!!

For 2 years running we've hosted a gumbo get-together to watch the LSU-Alabama game. It's great to see all of our friends (so many with kids now!) and a great excuse to make a giant vat of a crowd pleasing Louisiana staple. Unfortunately the Tigers lost (again). But Joseph really shows his support, wearing the shirt Mimi sent and yelling "Go Tigers!" whenever he sees any football on TV.

Welcome to the Roundhouse

Introducing 5 "really useful" friends who live there: Stanley, Thomas, Billy, Percy, and Harvey.

This boy is obsessed with his trains. We almost had an issue when we couldn't find Thomas this morning. Luckily he turned up - jammed down the tube of the "ball popper." Anyone have one of those toys? If you ever lose anything, it's sure to be in there.

Joseph loves to come into the kitchen and steal the oven mitts from one of the drawers. But nothing gets in the way of playing with those trains!

Trick or Treat or Truck

Ready for some action!

This year's pumpkins - almost bailed on the carving this year, but managed to squeeze it in during his nap.

And off we go!

The 1st house our little boy ever actually trick-or-treated at.

Some of Joseph's friends: Luca as Thomas, and Ethan as another fire fighter.

There was a block party just a few streets over, so we all left bowls of candy on our doorsteps and headed over. We heard there was going to be a fire engine, and it was the perfect setting for our budding rescue heroes. The crew is so nice, and always let the kids climb all over the place.

And lastly, today something special arrived in the mail from Mimi.
